KINGDOM OF THE EVENING. Dutch Premiere.
45min Q&A with Ayoub Abouizza
In 2010, Basque surfer Kepa Acero travelled to Western Africa in search of empty waves. In Morocco, he befriended a 15-year-old boy named Yassine. Fast forward fifteen years, Yassine is known as Snoopy Style, a professional surf guide and local legend in Taghazout. Together with filmmaker Ayoub Abouizza, Snoopy and Kepa embark on a journey to rediscover the feeling of freedom. However, things don’t go as planned, and the pursuit of that dream might no longer be possible. Life has changed—just like Morocco. Despite all, they still believe that somewhere along this coast, a wave is waiting—empty, perfect, undiscovered. Or at least, that’s the story they tell themselves… KINGDOM OF THE EVENING, is produced by OXBOW and filmed and directed by Clint Davis.
POINT OF CHANGE. Benelux Premiere
1.30h
‘They’d come to take our heads.’ What would you risk for a perfect wave? Exploring unknown territories comes with consequences, as the first surfers of Nias Island discovered in the 1970s. In a visually captivating and entertaining documentary, filmmaker Rebecca Coley weaves together old and new footage, artful animation, and interviews with both surfers and locals into the enthralling POINT OF CHANGE.

UNDREAMED WATERS
The Spanish pro surfer Lucia Martiño steps out of her comfort zone to surf in Iceland’s extremely cold waters, with a wind chill of -15ºC and constant snowfall. Filmmakers Carlos Farrera and Ibai Mielgo, bring to life this audiovisual creation for Blue Banana. With images from Iceland’s incredible landscape and wildlife, this is a must-watch on the big screen.
